Clio Permissions in Faster Drive

Clio gives your firm completely unlimited storage! Using permissions in Clio, you can create locations in Faster Drive to store administrative files that should only be available to specific users, or even a place to store your own private files where no one else can access them!

In Clio’s matter creation screen, there is a field called "Permissions". This field will dictate whether or not certain users can access this file in Clio and therefore Faster Drive.

Matter Permissions

There are a few options for matter permissions:

If we set permissions for this matter to “Me”, then only I will be able to access this matter in Clio and view the folder for this matter in Faster Drive.

Setting the permissions for this matter to “Everyone” will allow access to the matter in Clio and the folder in Faster Drive for everyone at your firm.

We can also select a custom group that will make the matter available to anyone in the specified group.

How to create groups (for Administrators)

If you’re an administrator at your firm, you can configure a custom group by going to Settings in Clio, and selecting “Groups, Permissions, and Job Titles”.

We can click "Add" in the top right to name our new custom group and click "Edit" under the new group to add some users to it.

Now if we create a new matter, we can set the permissions to the new custom group.
