After copying a folder from your local computer into Faster Drive, additional files appear that have odd names. For example, you may see files such as:
CAUSE
On some file servers, the operating system does not show you all files and, instead, hides certain files from users. This is generally the case for temporary files that some programs (such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel) use.
When these temporary files are copied into Faster Drive, Faster Drive purposefully shows you all files which is why these files seem to appear out of nowhere.
RESOLUTION
No action is necessary. You may generally delete these temporary files.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In order to prevent your Clio storage from being cluttered, files that Faster Drive identifies as "temporary" files are stored in a local cache and not actually uploaded to Clio. As of the writing of this article, the following files are identified as temporary documents:
- Documents that start with ._ or ~
- Documents that end with .tmp or .temp
