Windows update
There have been a number of reports of WebClient being disabled after installing the Windows 1903 feature update. If you are experiencing this problem and have updated Windows recently, please follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
Why does this happen?
Faster Drive relies on a Windows service called WebClient in order to map the A:\. By default, launching Faster Suite will turn on WebClient and set it to start automatically with Windows. This action requires administrator rights and if a user does not have sufficient privileges then Faster Suite will be unable to make this change.
How to resolve the issue
- First, click your "Start" button and type "services", on the right select "Open file location".
- Hold "Shift" on your keyboard and right-click the "Services" shortcut, then select "Run as different user".
- In the window that appears, you'll need to enter administrator credentials. These should be obtained from an office administrator or the IT company that managers your users. Once this information is entered, click "OK".
- Find "WebClient" in the list, then right-click it and select "Properties"
- From the drop-down labeled "Startup type:", select "Automatic", then Click the "Start" button located below the drop-down in this window.
- Click "OK", close the "Services" window, and relaunch Faster Suite
If WebClient is running and the A:\ still doesn't show up after restarting Faster Suite
In some cases, there can be other factors affecting the A:\ being correctly mapped. If you have verified that WebClient is running on your system and the A:\ still will not map, please contact Faster Law Support at help@fasterlaw.com.
