Advanced Troubleshooting: Clear Faster Suite's Cache Files

If you’ve been instructed by an Faster Law support team member to delete your cache file, there are a couple of ways to do this.

When we delete the cache file, Faster Suite will resync all of the information it needs from Clio the next time it launches. This can take a little bit longer than normal, but once the sync is complete, Faster Suite will load more quickly during subsequent launches.

What is the cache file and why would I want to delete it?

While Faster Suite doesn’t store any of your Clio documents on your computer, it does save some information that it uses to more quickly open those files from Clio’s cloud. This file is saved to your computer and is updated whenever Faster Suite is running.

In some rare cases, information in this file can become out of sync, causing problems with Faster Suite when loading or syncing documents. Problems with your cache file do not affect any of your information in Clio.

How to delete the cache file

To delete your cache file from the Faster Suite interface, you must first click "Faster Suite" on the Faster Ribbon, then click "Exit". In the window that pops up, uncheck the box that says "Remember my Faster Suite data from this computer". Once the box is unchecked, you can click "Exit" or "Exit and log out" and relaunch Faster Suite.

If you’re unable to run Faster Suite, you can delete your cache file manually by locating it on your computer. First, open any file explorer window. In the address bar, type the following and press enter on your keyboard.

%localappdata%\AlphaDrive for Clio\Cache

In this folder you will see one or more files named with email addresses that you’ve used to log into Faster Suite on this computer. Just delete the file associated with the email you’re trying to log in with, then relaunch Faster Suite.
