If your firm uses NetDocs, you may be looking for a way to automatically move import emails to NetDocs instead of Clio. Using Faster Mail and ndMail Folder Mapper you can accomplish this in just a few simple steps.
Step 1: Install ndOffice and ndMail
ndOffice is required to use ndMail and ndMail is required to map folders in Outlook to NetDocs. Both programs can be downloaded using the following links and should be installed in the given order.
Step 2: Configure Faster Mail
Some firms using NetDocs choose to disable filing emails to Clio since they will be filed to NetDocs instead. The following configuration is recommended for this process:
- Under Message Preservation > Messages
- Uncheck "Forensically preserve the email" (optional)
- Uncheck "Forensically preserve the email" (optional)
- Under Message Preservation > Outlook Organization
- Select "Organize the email into a folder inside Outlook" from the top drop-down menu
- Select your preferred folder structure from the second drop-down menu
Step 3: Link Faster Mail folders to NetDocs
If your Outlook folder structure includes more than just a matter folder (e.g., Status>Client>Matter) you may receive multiple prompts to map folders to NetDocs. Only the matter folder should be mapped as this is the folder that the emails will appear in. Other prompts can be ignored or avoided altogether by changing to a folder structure that only uses matter folders.
Now we just need to tell ndMail what folders in Outlook are related to what folders in NetDocs. Faster Mail will automatically create folders for each matter as emails are saved, and ndMail will prompt you to link to newly created folders to NetDocs. More information on how to map these folders can be found under Tip #3 in the following NetDocs article:
