Cause
Adobe Acrobat has a feature that allows other applications (such as Faster Time) to determine what document is currently open. At the time of this article (2019), there is a bug in Acrobat that results in Acrobat crashing if this feature is used too quickly after Acrobat opens.
Resolution
As of the last review of this article, Adobe has not yet fixed this issue, however, there are some workarounds that may be applicable to you.
Workarounds
The following are attempts to work around a bug that exists in Adobe Acrobat. As workarounds, we understand that they are less than ideal.
Workaround 1:
In Faster Suite, reduce the frequency that Faster Time checks the running application. This can be done by going to Faster Suite > Settings > Revenue Generation > Time Tracking and doing teh following:
1. Uncheck "Whenever I click the Mouse"
2. Uncheck "Whenever I switch Apps"
3. Set the "Check the App I'm using" interval to at least 10 seconds.
Please note that with this workaround, the issue may still occur but it will happen less frequently.
Workaround 2:
In Faster Suite, disable Acrobat time tracking. This can be done by going to Faster Suite > Settings > Revenue Generation > Time Recovery and unchecking "Adobe Acrobat". If this is done, the time spent on PDFs will be allocated to the activity immediately before when the PDF was opened.
Workaround 3:
In Faster Suite, disable Faster Time. This can be done by going to Faster Suite > Settings > Revenue Generation > Time Tracking and unchecking "Track My Time". If this is done, no automatic time tracking will take place.
