Licensing: Removing Users

Sometimes firms reallocate staff or firm members accept opportunities elsewhere.  When this happens, you can free up the license to be used by a new employee or another member of your firm.

To do this, all you have to do is deactivate the first user's account in Clio and have the new user log into Faster Suite.  Faster Suite will automatically detect the change in users and adjust accordingly.  Faster Law is not able to manually change the users assigned to your license.

To deactivate a user in Clio (and therefore Faster Suite), you'll just need to follow these steps:

Once the user is deactivated, it will free up their license to be used by other members of your firm.

Install Faster Suite for the new user and have them sign in using their Clio username and password.

When you do the above items, the old user will be removed from your license and your new user will be assigned to them.

If the user is no longer employed at your firm, you can follow the steps above to release their license.

If the user is still at your firm but no longer using Faster Suite, their license will remain allocated to them until the end of that year's license period at which time you can purchase a new license at a smaller size (as described below).  To gain the most value for your firm, you should consider removing users only toward the end of your license period.

Faster Suite licenses operate on a year-by-year basis so the spot will be available for use for the remainder of your license period.  If you don't have a replacement employee when your license comes up for renewal just email Help@FasterLaw.com to let us know that you would like to renew for fewer users.
