Faster Lawcademy: Video Tutorial 5.2.2
The following is a video tutorial. For the best experience, click the "Full Screen" button while watching this video.
Advanced Actions in Faster Snippets
Faster Snippets can do some pretty advanced things if we want it to.
Let’s open our edit snippets window by going to Faster Suite on the Faster Ribbon, clicking the settings wheel, selecting Text Snippets on the left and Custom Libraries across the top, and clicking the pencil icon.
Let’s create a new snippet, delete the existing action, and click the Add Another Action button, then hover over the Advanced Actions tab to see what kind of things we can do.
Insert a Comment
First is Insert a Comment, this action will display a comment that’s visible only to the person activating the snippet whenever they activate it. This is a good place to leave instructions on how a snippet should be used.
Wait for a Sec
Next is Wait for a Sec. Sometimes it may be necessary to pause for a moment between actions, like when tabbing between fields of a PDF to enter information. If our PDF editor can’t keep up with Faster Snippets, using some Wait actions will give it time to catch up.
Open an App/Doc/Website
We can also tell Faster Snippets to open an app, document, or website. With this action, we just select the file path or URL of the item we’d like to open. If an app or website should be opened with specific parameters, we can indicate those values in the parameters field.
Show a Message
Next is the Show a Message action. This action will pop up a window in the bottom right of the user’s screen that the user can click to perform certain actions. We can configure a subject and a message for the pop up, and drag other kinds of actions to the bottom box to configure what clicking the pop up will do.
Run a Zap/Webhook
Lastly, we have the Run a Zapier Webhook action. If we use Zapier, we can configure Faster Snippets to call a Zapier webhook by entering the webhook URL and choosing the fields and information to send.
Keep in mind that these are Advanced Actions and are intended to be configured by a firm administrator or IT person as these actions are typically more than a normal user will need.
