Faster Lawcademy: Video Tutorial 6.3.3
The following is a video tutorial. For the best experience, click the "Full Screen" button while watching this video.
This video will show you how to use Faster USPTO to automatically import USPTO documents to Clio.
First, we’ll click Mail on the Faster Ribbon, then click USPTO Import to open the import tool. From here, we can navigate the website normally to find our documents. In this case I’m viewing all outgoing correspondence.
Configuring Faster USPTO to Match Clio
The Attorney Docket Number is what Faster USPTO uses to match the documents to a matter in Clio. When inputting the Attorney Docket Number, make sure that it matches the corresponding Clio matter number exactly otherwise Faster USPTO will not be able to connect the documents to the matter and the import will fail. It is recommended to copy and paste the matter number directly from Clio to prevent any inaccuracies.
Importing Documents
Once our USPTO Attorney Docket numbers are set up, we can begin importing documents. We simply select the documents we would like to import, then click the Import button at the top of the page. A small window will appear to show the import progress. If any documents have Attorney Docket Numbers that don’t match a matter in Clio, this window will indicate that Faster USPTO was unable to find a matter. Once the window disappears, the import is complete and the documents can be found in Clio or Faster Drive inside of a configurable folder called USPTO.
Configuring Document and Folder Names
To configure our defaults for Faster USPTO, we can simply go to Faster Suite > Settings > USPTO Saver and choose a name and folder that we would like to use for any imported documents.
