Split Allocations

This video will show you how to split payments between users at your firm using the Split Allocations tool. This requires that a matter has a bill in Clio that has already been paid in full.

To get started launching the Split Allocations tool, click New, then click Split Allocations. In the menu below, select Configure. This brings up a window where we can select the matter for which we would like to split payments received. After selecting the matter, click Next.
This window will allow you to select whether the total payment will be split or the total after expenses. We can then look below to add any Clio user. I’ll add two, Alex and Dianne. Each of them will receive twenty percent of the payment. It’s important to note that the percentages do not need to be the same or total up to one-hundred. Once you’ve entered all the recipients and their percentages, click Next. The configuration is complete.

Next, we’ll need to execute the allocation. We can do this by clicking New on the Faster Ribbon, then Split Allocations, then Execute from the menu below. The window that comes up shows us the bills on matters that have been configured for split allocation. We can select all bills with the top checkbox or just one. I only have the one so I will select it and click Split.

The resulting action will bring up the Faster Drive with a Microsoft Excel file that contains the resulting data from the split allocation including the client, matter, invoice number and total bill along with the calculated split of the funds for each selected Clio user.
