Faster Suite Error: This Application Requires .NET Framework 4.7.2 / Unable to Login on Windows 7

Background

In order to provide support for as many customers as possible, our policy is to stay on the trailing edge of supported technologies - this means that we try to support technologies that are as old as possible.

When a firm uses software that is no longer supported by the vendor that develops it or that software is not kept up to date according to the vendor's recommendations, we cannot provide any assurance that our software will work correctly with it.

In the event that you are running unsupported software, we will still try to help you out, however, you should understand that upgrading legacy software may be the necessary solution. If you need to upgrade, please consider a computer that meets our recommended configuration.

Unable to Login on Windows 7

If you are using Windows 7, you should upgrade immediately. Because Microsoft is no longer creating security updates for Windows 7 (its over 10 years old!), Windows 7 is no longer considered a secure operating system and does not contain the latest security precautions and enhancements.

If you are using Windows 7, you should upgrade immediately and purchase a computer that is in line with our recommended configuration.

Faster Suite is designed to work with modern security and encryption protocols that are not fully available on Windows 7. Faster Suite version 20.02.16 and above contains a workaround that enables Windows 7 machines to continue to log in.

Again, we would like to iterate, If you are using Windows 7, you should upgrade immediately and purchase a computer that is in line with our recommended configuration.

"This application requires .NET Framework 4.7.2" Your Computer is Missing Important Updates

If you receive a message saying "This application requires .NET Framework 4.7.2" when trying to run Faster Suite, your computer is missing important security and stability updates from Microsoft.

The instructions below will assist you in enabling and installing Microsoft's recommended updates which will install the latest version of the .NET Framework.

1. Check to make sure automatic updates are installed (preferred method)

From the Windows Start Menu, click Settings, then Update and Security. Click "Check for updates". If any updates are found they will be downloaded and installed. Some updates require you to restart your computer before they are installed completely.

2. Install .NET Framework 4.7.2 from Microsoft's Web Installer

If your organization has deferred updates to Windows or those updates cannot be installed, you can click here to download Microsoft's .NET Framework 4.7.2 Runtime. Once the download is completed, simply run the program to complete the install.
